What is Veritas Preparatory Program?

Veritas Preparatory Program is a referral-based Saturday school designed for high-achieving students in grades 5-7. Veritas Prep exists for parents who want their children to go beyond what’s taught in regular school and explore more advanced learning at an earlier age to promote accelerated academic and social development.

For the past eight years, Veritas has become nationally acclaimed for producing many of the top-performing students in the world, placing them on a trajectory to Ivy League and prestigious colleges. Our award-winning faculty uses creative and proven strategies to help students build strong skills in reading, thinking, problem-solving, and communication—all while having fun learning in a challenging and exciting environment.

Learning Outcomes

Students will achieve measurable progress in standardized assessments, competitive academic competitions, and/or entry exams by learning the following:

Students will develop the skills to analyze and interpret advanced-level literary and informational texts to draw meaningful conclusions.

Referrals

Prospective scholars will only be considered with a referral from a teacher, counselor, or administrator from their current or previous grade level. The referral must vouch for the candidate’s high-achieving tendencies and potential for accelerated growth, citing specific examples of academic excellence and social maturity. You should request the referral as a written letter directly from your preferred teacher, counselor, or administrator. The online application will require you to submit the referral letter along with the application.

Academic Potential

The ideal candidate is a high-performing student who consistently demonstrates strong academic abilities in their grade level. They excel in core subjects like reading, writing, and math, often going beyond what is expected for their age. They show an ability to grasp new concepts quickly and apply their knowledge to solve problems.

Intellectual Curiosity

Candidates should exhibit a genuine passion for learning, showing a naturally inquisitive nature by asking many questions about people, events, and ideas in the world around them.

Clear Communicators

The ideal candidate has strong foundational communication skills for their age. They can share their ideas clearly in writing and conversation and enjoy engaging in discussions with teachers and classmates.

Social Readiness

This student works well with others, listens to different perspectives, and contributes positively in group settings. They are cooperative, respectful, and show the ability to take on leadership roles in team activities.

Discipline

The student should demonstrate the ability to concentrate and thrive in a highly disciplined environment for an extended period of time without being distracted. The student and their family should understand and be ready to commit to the program’s time requirements. Attendance every Saturday (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM) for the school year is a crucial for achieving the program’s intended outcomes.

FAQs

Veritas Prep is referral-based only. Prospective students must include a referral letter from a teacher, counselor, or administrator at their current school in order to complete a Veritas application.

Applications open for referred students on February 1, 2025 – February 28, 2025.

Admission interviews will be conducted in March 2025.

Admission decisions will be communicated in April 2025.

Veritas Prep provides an unparalleled academic experience for 5th–7th-grade students, offering a level of rigor unmatched by any other public or private school in Metro Atlanta. Our award-winning faculty includes distinguished educators, such as a Harvard instructor, Harvard debate champions, Team USA debaters, and more. At Veritas Prep, your child will thrive in an environment that fosters excellence, critical thinking, and a love for learning

No, only Veritas Debate Institute scholars (who are in grades 8-11) go to Harvard. Veritas Prep will eventually have an opportunity to study at Harvard through VDI when they are of age.

Veritas Prep scholars may remain in the program from one to three years.

Scholars must commit to class every Saturday from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM for one full school year, excluding holiday/school break weekends. Veritas Prep follows the same academic calendar as most public and private schools.

English Language Arts (ELA)

  • ELAGSE5RI8-ELAGSE7RI8: Analyze and evaluate arguments and claims in texts, including identifying reasoning and evidence.
  • ELAGSE5RL10-ELAGSE7RL10: Read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, appropriate for advanced levels.
  • ELAGSE5W1-ELAGSE7W1: Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.
  • ELAGSE5SL1-ELAGSE7SL1: Engage effectively in collaborative discussions, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.
  • ELAGSE5L4-ELAGSE7L4: Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown words and phrases, using advanced reading and context strategies.
