| Congratulations to two of our Veritas alumni for making the USA Debate team and USA Debate Development team! One of 12 chosen from over 100,000 members of the National Speech and Debate Association, Chuka Okwumabua (Veritas ‘22) is a member of the 2024-2025 USA debate team! Over the next year, he will compete against other high schoolers from around the world in the Word Schools Debate format. Tournaments will be held domestically and abroad including places like Croatia and Singapore. In July, 6 members will travel to Panama City to represent the USA at the World Championship. Hamilton Henderson (Veritas ‘23) was selected for the USA Debate Development Team! As a member of the Development Team, Hamilton will travel across the country to compete in some of the most prestigious tournaments in the World Schools Debate format while representing USA Debate. Additionally, as a program of the National Speech and Debate Association, the Development Team aims to foster talent in and support the development of the World Schools Debate format across the United States. We are so proud of Chuka and Hamilton for this prestigious and exciting accomplishment! |
